Best Cheap Chronograph: Timex Expedition Chronograph T49905
Pros: The first pro of this watch, in my opinion, is the dial. The dial offers a great vintage, aviation look that usually is only found on watches upwards of $1000. The patinated lettering, sub-dials, and "aviation dial" hands look awesome on the wrist, offering a very soft look that would look great as an everyday watch. Another great feature of this watch is the strap. It comes with a genuine leather strap that is of great quality. This really shocked me, as this watch only costs around $40. It is extremely comfortable on the wrist and that strap matches the overall look of the watch perfectly. Finally, the movement is another great feature, as it is a chronograph, making it very useful in the real world. The movement is also an important feature because there are almost no chronographs that cost only $40.
Cons: The first con is the case. The stainless steel seems to be of good quality, but the PVD coating looks quite cheap because, in my opinion, it is far too black and shiny. It looks almost as if it is made of a type of plastic, not metal. Also, it seems as if the PVD coating will wear down quite a bit over time.
Overall, this watch has many pros and only a few cons, putting it as our favorite chronograph over $100.
